Explication
NOTE

〜ならともかく signifie it's one thing if ~, but ~ (passe encore si ~, mais ~) — utilisé pour contraster un cas acceptable avec un cas inacceptable.

子供こどもならともかく、大人おとながそんなことをするなんて。
Passe encore si c'est un enfant, mais qu'un adulte fasse une telle chose...
Le premier élément est tolérable ; le second (le sujet de la proposition principale) ne l'est pas.

La proposition principale exprime généralement la surprise, la critique ou la plainte à propos du second élément.

NOTE

Principalement attaché aux nouns (noms) ; le sens est si c'était ~, d'accord, mais... (学生 → 学生ならともかく).
