NOTE
そもそも signifie in the first place (à la base) ou to begin with (pour commencer) — un marqueur qui recadre vers l'origine.
そもそも、なぜこの計画が始まったの?
À la base, pourquoi ce plan a-t-il commencé?
Placé en début de phrase pour revenir à la question fondamentale.
NOTE
Utilisez そもそも pour remettre en question la prémisse elle-même, souvent avec un ton critique ou sceptique.
NOTE
Cela peut aussi signifier originally (à l'origine) — décrivant comment quelque chose était dès le début (≈ もともと, mais plus réflexif).
