Explanation
NOTE
ではありません is the formal way to say is not in Japanese. You use it after a noun or na-adjective to politely negate a statement.
NOTE
It is the negative form of です. In casual speech, you will often hear じゃありません instead, but ではありません is the standard formal form used in writing and polite conversation.
