Explanation
NOTE

The particle って is the casual version of と for quotation. You use it in everyday conversation to quote what someone said or to express what you think or heard.

NOTE

In very casual speech, the verb after って (like 言う) can even be dropped entirely. Just ending with って implies someone said it.

STRUCTURE

彼かれは来こないって言いった。
Kare wa konai tte itta.
He said he's not coming.
あの映画えいがはおもしろいって聞きいた。
Ano eiga wa omoshiroi tte kiita.
I heard that movie is interesting.
明日あしたは休やすみって。
Ashita wa yasumi tte.
They said tomorrow is a day off.

田中たなかさんは明日あした休やすみだって。
Mr. Tanaka said he's off tomorrow.
山田やまださんが、この本ほんはおもしろいって言いっていたよ。
Ms. Yamada said this book is interesting.
