Explanation
NOTE
あれ means that over there and refers to something far from both the speaker and the listener. It is part of the こそあど system: これ (near me), それ (near you), あれ (far from both).
NOTE
あれ is a standalone pronoun — it replaces a noun entirely. Do not confuse it with あの, which goes before a noun to modify it (e.g. あの店 — that shop over there).
