Explanation
NOTE
The verb くる (to come) is irregular. Its casual past tense form is きた. The reading changes from く to き.
NOTE
This is one of only two irregular verbs in Japanese (along with する). You simply need to memorize that くる becomes きた.
STRUCTURE
Vた
友達が来た。
Tomodachi ga kita.
A friend came.
日本に来た。
Nihon ni kita.
I came to Japan.
猫が来た。
Neko ga kita.
The cat came.
