Explanation
NOTE
これ means this and refers to something close to the speaker. It is a standalone pronoun — you use it to point at or identify an object near you.
NOTE
これ replaces a noun entirely. Do not attach it directly to a noun — for that, use この (e.g. この本 — this book). これ is part of the こそあど system: これ (near me), それ (near you), あれ (far from both).
