〜てしまう②
to do an unintentional action
Explanation
NOTE
てしまう (regret) attaches to the て-form of a verb and expresses that something happened by accident or that you regret the result. The action was unintentional or unfortunate.
NOTE
Context tells you whether てしまう means completion or regret. When something bad or unexpected happens, it carries a feeling of oh no, I accidentally did it.
STRUCTURE

しまう財布を忘れてしまった。
Saifu wo wasurete shimatta.
I accidentally forgot my wallet.
電車で寝てしまった。
Densha de nete shimatta.
I accidentally fell asleep on the train.
大事な写真を消してしまった。
