Explanation
NOTE
The て form can connect two or more actions in the order they happen. Think of it like and or and then between actions.
NOTE
The subject does the first action, then moves on to the next. The final verb in the chain carries the tense for the whole sentence.
STRUCTURE
Vて
V辞朝起きて、顔を洗う。
Asa okite, kao o arau.
I wake up and wash my face.
本を読んで、寝る。
Hon o yonde, neru.
I read a book and go to sleep.
家に帰って、ごはんを食べる。
Ie ni kaette, gohan o taberu.
I go home and eat dinner.
Example sentences
毎朝、起きて、朝ごはんを食べます。
Every morning, I get up and eat breakfast.
図書館へ行って、本を読みます。
I go to the library and read books.
誕生日のプレゼントを買って、家へ帰ります。
