GRAMMAR
〜あげる
to give (away)
Explanation
NOTE
あげる means to give and is used when you (or someone in your in-group) give something to another person. The giver is the subject, and the receiver is marked with the particle に.
NOTE
You never use あげる when someone gives something to you — for that, you use くれる instead. Think of あげる as giving away from yourself.
