to do B while leaving A in given state
Explanation
NOTE

たまま attaches to the た-form of a verb and means while leaving something in a given state. You do action B without changing the state created by action A.

NOTE

It often implies that the state should have been changed but was not. For example, leaving the TV on while going out, or sleeping with the window open.
