Explanation

NOTE

ぜんぜん means (not) at all. It is a strong negation — use it with a negative verb or adjective to say something is completely not the case.

NOTE

ぜんぜん must be paired with a negative ending. Compare with あまり (not much): あまり is a partial negation, while ぜんぜん is a total negation.

STRUCTURE

ぜんぜん分わからない。

Zenzen wakaranai.

I do not understand at all.

この料理りょうりはぜんぜん辛からくない。

Kono ryōri wa zenzen karakunai.

This dish is not spicy at all.

昨日きのうはぜんぜん寝ねられなかった。

Kinō wa zenzen nerarenakatta.

I could not sleep at all yesterday.
