〜次第
as soon as
Explanation
NOTE
〜次第 means as soon as or the moment — it expresses that the next action will happen immediately once the preceding action is completed.
会議が終わり次第、ご連絡します。
As soon as the meeting ends, I'll contact you.
Used in **formal**, business-like contexts. The second clause is usually a future action you intend to take.
NOTE
The second clause cannot be in the past tense — 〜次第 looks forward to something not yet done, so volitional, request, or future expressions follow.
NOTE
Attach to the verb masu-stem (drop ます): 着きます → 着き次第. Do not confuse with 〜次第だ / 〜次第で, which mean depends on.
