to pretend
Explanation
NOTE
〜振りをする (ふりをする) means to pretend or to act as if — feigning a state, action, or identity that is not true.
知らないふりをした。
I pretended not to know.
Used to describe acting as if something is not true. It follows a verb in the dictionary form or negative form.
NOTE
ふり means appearance or pretense. The structure varies by word type: verbs use the plain form, adjectives use their plain form, and nouns use の.
