Explanation

NOTE

The passive of ru-verbs expresses the subject receiving an action done by someone else.

ケーキけーきが弟おとうとに食たべられた。

The cake was eaten by my brother.

NOTE

Form: remove る and add られる → 食べる → 食べ + られる (食べられる).

NOTE

The agent (doer) is marked with に. The passive can express direct or indirect effects.
