Explanation
NOTE

〜によって (pattern ①) expresses the means or method by which something is done — equivalent to by means of or through.

この建物たてものは地震じしんによって壊こわれた。
This building was destroyed by an earthquake.
Used here to indicate the direct cause or agent of an event.
NOTE

It is commonly used to describe the agent in passive constructions (who/what did something) or the method used to accomplish something.
