NOTE
〜と並んで means alongside or comparable with — two things are at the same level, standing side by side in rank or quality.
東京と並んで、大阪も有名な都市だ。
Alongside Tokyo, Osaka is also a famous city.
This grammar point is used to show that two things hold similar status or are equally important.
NOTE
Attach と並んで after a noun to say "alongside [noun]" or "at the same level as [noun]".
