NOTE

〜てる is the casual contraction of 〜ている, formed by dropping the . Heard constantly in conversation.

NOTE

〜てる has three uses: (1) an ongoing action right now, (2) a habitual or repeated action, or (3) a resulting state.

まどてるよ。
The window is open.
Resulting state: the window was opened and is still open
