Explanation
NOTE
〜たところ has two meanings. Use 1: just completed — "I just did ~" (recent past).
ちょうど家に着いたところだ。
I just arrived home.
Used here with 'da' to emphasize that an action has been completed at this very moment.
NOTE
Use 2: just as / when — Y happened right after X occurred: "Just as I did X, Y happened."
駅に着いたところ、電車が出てしまった。
Just as I arrived at the station, the train left.
Used here to express that a new discovery or event occurred as a direct result or consequence of the preceding action.

Choudo shokuji o owatta tokoro desu.

Denwa o kaketa tokoro, kare wa fuzai datta.
