〜最中
in the middle of
Explanation
NOTE
〜最中 means right in the middle of doing something — emphasizing that an action is actively in progress at that moment.
会議の最中に電話が鳴った。
The phone rang right in the middle of the meeting.
Often used when something interrupts or happens during an ongoing event.
NOTE
It is stronger than 〜間に or 〜ところ — it stresses being at the peak or height of the activity.
NOTE
With nouns, attach using の最中 (e.g., 試験の最中, 食事の最中).

With verbs, use the 〜ている form before 最中 (e.g., 話している最中, 食べている最中).
