Explanation
NOTE

余りあまりに means "excessively" — more emphatic than 余り. It directly modifies an adjective.

余りあまりかなしくて、なにべられなかった。
I was so excessively sad that I couldn't eat anything.
Used here to emphasize an extreme degree of emotion that causes a specific result.
NOTE

Connect to result with て for -adjectives and で for -adjectives.
