NOTE

〜をきっかけに means triggered by or taking X as an opportunity — X is the event that sparked a change or new action.

病気びょうきをきっかけに生活せいかつあらためた。
I changed my lifestyle, triggered by illness.
This grammar point is used to indicate that a specific event served as the starting point or trigger for a change or a new action.
NOTE

をきっかけに can also be said as をきっかけにして or がきっかけで. It often pairs with life-changing events.
