as if
Explanation
NOTE
ような modifies nouns (like ~), ように modifies verbs/adjectives (in the manner of ~).
夢のような話だ。
It's a story like a dream.
ような modifies the noun 話.
NOTE
Both attach to the plain form of verbs/adjectives, or follow nouns + の.
飛ぶように走った。
I ran as if flying.
ように acts adverbially to modify the verb 走った, describing the manner of the action.
STRUCTURE

見たことがないような景色だった。
Mita koto ga nai yo na keshiki datta.
It was scenery unlike anything I had ever seen.
信じられないような出来事が起きた。
Shinjirarenai yo na dekigoto ga okita.
An unbelievable event occurred.
胸が痛いような気持ちになった。
Mune ga itai yo na kimochi ni natta.
I got a feeling as if my chest hurt.

Kare wa kieru yo ni sugata o keshita.
He disappeared as if vanishing.

Sensei ga itta yo ni benkyo shita.

He fell as if tumbling.
