NOTE
〜ほど① indicates the degree or extent of something — "to the degree that" or "so much that."
声が出ないほど叫んだ。
I shouted so much my voice gave out.
Used here to express the degree or extent of an action, indicating 'to the extent that'.
NOTE
ほど is similar to くらい when expressing extent, but feels slightly more literary or formal. Attaches to plain verb form or noun.
