NOTE
〜はもとより〜も means let alone / of course — a more formal version of はもちろん〜も. X is the obvious item, and Y is an added, often more surprising one.
日本はもとより、海外も有名だ。
It is famous in Japan, let alone overseas.
This grammar is used to emphasize that something is true for the first item mentioned, and even more so for the second. It implies that the second item goes without saying.
NOTE
Commonly found in written language, formal speeches, or literary texts. More elevated in register than はもちろん.

Yomikaki wa moto yori, keisan mo oshiete iru.
