Explanation
NOTE
〜に向けて means towards or aimed at a goal or target — doing something with deliberate effort directed at achieving X.
卒業に向けて論文を書いている。
I am writing my thesis aimed at graduation.
Used here to indicate an objective or deadline that acts as a target for your current actions.
NOTE
Unlike に向かって (physical movement toward), に向けて often carries the nuance of deliberate preparation or effort directed at a goal.
