Explanation
NOTE
〜とおりに・〜どおりに means just as or in the exact way that — the action matches a model or instruction precisely.
先生が言ったとおりに書いた。
I wrote it just as the teacher said.
Used here after a past tense verb to indicate performing an action in accordance with what was said.
NOTE
どおりに follows nouns (rendaku). とおりに follows verbs in plain form.
