Explanation
NOTE
〜ではなくて means not X but Y — it corrects or clarifies, denying one thing and affirming something else in its place.
彼は先生ではなくて、医者だ。
He is not a teacher but a doctor.
This grammar is used to negate the first noun and provide a contrasting alternative.
NOTE
Attach ではなくて to a noun or な-adjective stem to introduce a correction.
