Explanation
NOTE
〜つもりだ expresses a personal intention or plan — what you intend to do or not do.
来年、日本へ行くつもりだ。
I intend to go to Japan next year.
Used to express a planned intention or decision for the future.
NOTE
〜つもりだ focuses on mental intention rather than a firm schedule.
今夜は早く寝るつもりだ。
I intend to go to bed early tonight.
This structure follows a verb in the dictionary form to show what you have decided to do.
NOTE
Unlike ことにする (a decision already made), つもりだ is about what you have in mind.
大学に入るつもりだ。
I intend to enter university.
Used here to state a personal goal or life plan.
