〜ついでに
while (doing something else)
Explanation
NOTE

〜ついでに means while doing something else or taking the opportunity — when already doing X, you conveniently also do Y. Y is a secondary action done because X provided the occasion.

外出がいしゅつするついでに、郵便ゆうびんを出だしてきた。
While going out, I also mailed a letter.
This grammar is used when you perform a secondary action while doing something you were already planning to do.
NOTE

Y is not the main purpose — it is done on the side, making it efficient and natural. Often translates as while I'm at it or since I'm going anyway.
