Explanation
NOTE
〜だけ means "only," "just," or "merely." It limits the scope to exactly that amount — nothing more.
水だけ飲んだ。
I only drank water.
Used here to limit the object of the verb to water, excluding anything else.
NOTE
It attaches to nouns or verb dictionary form. It is neutral in tone, unlike しか (requires negative) or ばかり (implies excess).
