Explanation
NOTE

そこで connects two clauses where the second is an action taken in response to the first situation. It means therefore, and so, or for that reason.

道みちが混こんでいた。そこで、地下鉄ちかてつを使つかうことにした。
The roads were congested. So I decided to take the subway.
Used here to introduce a decision or action taken in response to the situation described in the previous sentence.
NOTE
  • Different from だから (more causal and direct) — そこで emphasizes that someone took action because of the situation.
  • Often used in storytelling, explaining processes, or recounting decisions.
資料しりょうが見みつからなかった。そこで、先生せんせいに聞きいてみた。
I couldn't find the materials. So I tried asking the teacher.
This shows how to initiate an action to solve a problem mentioned previously.
