Explanation
NOTE
The passive of u-verbs expresses the subject receiving or experiencing an action.
この歌は世界中で歌われている。
This song is sung all over the world.
NOTE
Form: ない-stem + れる → 書く → 書か + れる (書かれる).
NOTE
The doer is marked with に. The passive can also express indirect suffering.
STRUCTURE

れる私の自転車が盗まれた。
Watashi no jitensha ga nusuma<b>reta</b>.
My bicycle was stolen.
彼は多くの人に慕われている。
Kare wa ōku no hito ni shitawa<b>rete iru</b>.
He is liked by many people.
この建物は百年前に建てられた。
Kono tatemono wa hyakunen mae ni tate<b>rareta</b>.
This building was built a hundred years ago.
