Explanation
NOTE
〜に沿って means along or in accordance with — following a path, line, or guideline.
川に沿って歩いた。
I walked along the river.
Used with physical paths like rivers, roads, or coastlines.
NOTE
It also expresses abstract following — acting in line with a plan, policy, or expectation.
計画に沿って進めましょう。
Let's proceed in accordance with the plan.
Common with 計画 (plan), 方針 (policy), 期待 (expectations), マニュアル (manual).
NOTE
Attaches to nouns only. A variant 〜に沿った is used to modify a following noun.
