NOTE

〜ながら（も）means although or despite — expressing a contrast between two facts that don't normally go together.

狭せまいながらも、居心地いごこちのいい部屋へやだ。
Although it's small, it's a cozy room.
Distinct from the N4 *〜ながら* meaning *while doing*. Here it expresses concession (contrast).
NOTE

The optional も emphasizes the contrast. 〜ながらも is slightly stronger and more literary than plain 〜ながら.

NOTE

With verbs, attach ながら（も） to the ます-stem (知ります → 知りながらも).

Despite feeling regretful, I accepted his decision.
迷まよいながらも、最後さいごには答こたえを出だした。

Although I hesitated, in the end I gave an answer.
NOTE

With i-adjectives, attach ながら（も） directly to the dictionary form (狭い → 狭いながらも).

Wakai nagaramo, kare wa shikkari shite iru.
Although young, he is reliable.
NOTE

With nouns (and na-adjective stems), attach ながら（も） directly to the noun without だ (子供 → 子供ながらも).
