Explanation
NOTE
〜としたら means if (we) assume that or supposing that — used to introduce a hypothetical condition.
宝くじが当たったとしたら、何を買いますか。
If you won the lottery, what would you buy?
Often used with hypothetical or imagined situations, similar to *if we suppose*.
NOTE
The main clause typically expresses a decision, opinion, or consequence based on that assumption.
NOTE
With verbs and i-adjectives, attach としたら directly to the plain form (行く → 行くとしたら).

Kaigai ni sumu toshitara, doko ga ii desu ka.
If you were to live abroad, where would be good?
転職するとしたら、IT業界がいい。
Tenshoku suru toshitara, IT gyoukai ga ii.
If I were to change jobs, the IT industry would be good.
旅行に行くとしたら、来月がいい。
Ryokou ni iku toshitara, raigetsu ga ii.
If we were to go on a trip, next month would be good.
NOTE
With nouns and na-adjectives, attach だとしたら to the base form (学生 → 学生だとしたら).

Yume da to shitara, sametakunai.
If this is a dream, I don't want to wake up.

Kono hanashi ga hontou da toshitara, taihen da.
If this story were true, it would be terrible.
犯人が彼だとしたら、許せない。
Hannin ga kare da toshitara, yurusenai.
If he were the culprit, I couldn't forgive him.
明日が雨だとしたら、試合は中止だ。
Ashita ga ame da toshitara, shiai wa chuushi da.
If tomorrow were rainy, the match would be canceled.
