〜っぱなし

Explanation
NOTE
〜っぱなし means leaving something in a state — an action done and left undone or unfinished.
窓を開けっぱなしにして出かけた。
I went out leaving the window open.
Often carries a **negative** nuance of carelessness or neglect.
NOTE
It can also describe an action that continues uninterrupted for a long time, like standing all day.
NOTE
Attach 〜っぱなし to the verb masu-stem (開けます → 開けっぱなし, 立ちます → 立ちっぱなし).
STRUCTURE

っぱなし窓を開けっぱなしにしたまま出かけた。
Mado wo akeppanashi ni shita mama dekaketa.
I went out leaving the window open.
荷物を玄関に置きっぱなしにしている。
Nimotsu wo genkan ni okippanashi ni shite iru.
The luggage is left sitting in the entryway.
テレビをつけっぱなしで仕事している。
Terebi wo tsukeppanashi de shigoto shite iru.
I work with the TV left on.
電気をつけっぱなしで寝てしまった。
Denki o tsukeppanashi de nete shimatta.
I fell asleep leaving the lights on.
一日中立ちっぱなしで疲れた。
Ichinichijuu tachippanashi de tsukareta.
I'm tired from standing all day.
水を出しっぱなしにしないでください。
Mizu o dashippanashi ni shinaide kudasai.
Please don't leave the water running.
