Explanation
NOTE
更に means furthermore, moreover, or additionally. It is used to add new information or to indicate that something happens on top of what was already mentioned.
雨が降っている。更に、風も強くなってきた。
It's raining. Furthermore, the wind has gotten stronger.
Sentence-initial 更に connects two related statements, adding extra information.
NOTE
更に can also appear mid-sentence to mean even more or still further, often modifying a verb or an amount.
