Explanation
NOTE
〜を通し means through or via — indicating a means, medium, or duration by which something happens.
友人を通し、彼と知り合った。
I got to know him through a friend.
Common with intermediaries (people, organizations) as the means of contact.
NOTE
〜を通し is the masu-stem (continuing) form of 〜を通して — more literary and used in written contexts.
NOTE
It attaches directly to a noun, often a medium, period, or person (経験, 一生, インターネット, etc.).
