only
Explanation
NOTE
〜のみ means only or just — a formal written equivalent of だけ.
会員のみ入場できます。
Only members may enter.
Common in notices, contracts, and formal announcements.
NOTE
Use 〜のみ in written, business, or official contexts. In casual speech, だけ sounds more natural.
NOTE
With nouns, simply attach のみ directly to the noun (会員 → 会員のみ).
STRUCTURE

Touten dewa genkin nomi shiyou kanou desu.
At our store, only cash can be used.
この資料は社内のみ配布します。
Kono shiryou wa shanai nomi haifu shimasu.
These materials will be distributed only within the company.
受験者のみ入室を許可します。
Jukensha nomi nyuushitsu wo kyoka shimasu.
Only examinees are permitted to enter the room.
今日は試験日のみ、学校に行きます。
Kyou wa shikenbi nomi, gakkou ni ikimasu.
I go to school only on the day of the exam.
私の部屋には、机のみあります。
Watashi no heya ni wa, tsukue nomi arimasu.
In my room, there is only a desk.
彼は水のみ飲みます。
Kare wa mizu nomi nomimasu.
He drinks only water.
NOTE
With verbs, attach のみ directly to the dictionary form (使う → 使うのみ). It often appears in fixed expressions like 〜のみだ meaning all that's left is to ~.

Junbi wa owatta. Ato wa ganbaru nomi da.

結果を待つのみです。
Kekka wo matsu nomi desu.

Shinjitsu wo kataru nomi de aru.
I will only speak the truth.
