NOTE
〜ないではいられない means can't help but do X — expressing a strong, irresistible urge to do something.
この映画を見ると、泣かないではいられない。
When I watch this movie, I can't help but cry.
Used to describe an emotional or physical reaction the speaker cannot suppress.
NOTE
The speaker feels compelled by emotion or circumstance — it's not a choice, it just happens.
NOTE
Attach to a verb in its negative (ない) form, then add ではいられない (食べる → 食べないではいられない).
STRUCTURE
Vない
ではいられないおいしそうなケーキを見ると、食べないではいられない。
Oishisou na keeki o miru to, tabenai dewa irarenai.
When I see a delicious-looking cake, I can't help but eat it.
彼の話を聞くと、笑わないではいられない。
Kare no hanashi o kiku to, warawanai dewa irarenai.
