〜とも

Explanation
NOTE
〜とも means even if or no matter ~ — a formal, written equivalent of 〜ても.
何が起ころうとも、私は諦めない。
No matter what happens, I won't give up.
Commonly used with 何, 誰, どんな to mean *no matter ~*.
NOTE
It is formal and often found in writing, speeches, or strong personal resolutions.
NOTE
With verbs, use the volitional form + とも (行こう → 行こうとも).
STRUCTURE

とも誰が反対しようとも、私は進む。
Dare ga hantai shiyou tomo, watashi wa susumu.
No matter who opposes, I will move forward.
どんなに時間がかかろうとも、必ず完成させる。
Donna ni jikan ga kakarou tomo, kanarazu kansei saseru.
No matter how long it takes, I will surely finish it.
何を言われようとも、気にしない。
Nani o iwareyou tomo, ki ni shinai.
No matter what is said to me, I don't care.

With i-adjectives, replace い with くとも (高い → 高くとも; 少ない → 少なくとも).
STRUCTURE

Donna ni muzukashikutomo, yaritogeru.
No matter how difficult it is, I will accomplish it.
多くとも一週間で終わるだろう。
Ookutomo isshuukan de owaru darou.
It will probably finish in at most one week.
少なくとも三人は必要だ。
Sukunakutomo sannin wa hitsuyou da.
We need at least three people.
