それなのに
and yet
despite that
Explanation
NOTE

それなのに means and yet or despite that — a discourse marker linking two sentences with an unexpected result.

毎日まいにち勉強べんきょうした。それなのに試験しけんちた。
I studied every day. And yet, I failed the exam.
Used at the start of a sentence to express disappointment or surprise at an unexpected outcome.
NOTE

NOTE

Place it at the start of a new sentence, after the situation that sets up the unexpected contrast.
