NOTE
〜をよそに means disregarding / ignoring — someone acts while paying no attention to something.
親の心配をよそに、彼は旅に出た。
Ignoring his parents' worry, he set off on a journey.
NOTE
It is formal and often carries criticism — the speaker disapproves of the disregard.
住民の反対をよそに、工事が始まった。
Disregarding the residents' opposition, the construction began.
The thing being ignored is usually a feeling, opinion, or situation expressed as a noun.
NOTE
Attach をよそに directly to a noun, usually one describing emotions or circumstances.
