NOTE

〜だけ here means just for / might as well — doing something simply because there is no harm in it.

ダメかもしれないが、くだけいてみよう。
It may not work, but we might as well ask.
NOTE

It repeats the same verb: Vだけ V — the speaker tries the action with no strong expectation.

無理むりだとおもうが、たのむだけたのんでみる。
I think it is impossible, but I might as well ask.
The same verb is repeated: 頼む then 頼んでみる.
NOTE

Attach だけ to a verb in dictionary form. The same verb is repeated after だけ.
