NOTE

〜をものともせずに means disregarding or in defiance of — acting bravely without being stopped by a hardship.

大雨おおあめをものともせずに、選手せんしゅたちは走はしり続つづけた。
In defiance of the heavy rain, the runners kept on running.
NOTE

It is formal and praising. The obstacle is treated as nothing, and the speaker admires the courage shown.

怪我けがをものともせずに、彼かれは試合しあいに出でた。
Disregarding his injury, he played in the match.
It is not used for the speaker's own actions; it describes someone else's bravery.
NOTE

Attach をものともせずに directly to a noun, usually one naming a hardship or danger.
