Explanation
NOTE

〜までだ and 〜までのことだ mean will just / only left to do — if things go wrong, you will simply take one calm course of action.

電車でんしゃがなければ、歩あるくまでだ。
If there is no train, I will just walk.
NOTE

It shows a calm, determined attitude. The two forms are interchangeable; までのことだ sounds slightly more formal.

断ことわられたら、諦あきらめるまでのことだ。
If I am refused, I will just give up.
There is no sense of regret — just a plain statement of the next step.
NOTE

Attach までだ to a verb in dictionary form. It describes the simple action you will take.

If I fail, I will just try again one more time.
電車でんしゃが止とまったのなら、歩あるいて帰かえるまでだ。
Densha ga tomatta no nara, aruite kaeru made da.
If the train has stopped, I will just walk home.
誰だれも手伝てつだってくれないなら、自分じぶんでやるまでだ。
Dare mo tetsudatte kurenai nara, jibun de yaru made da.
If no one will help me, I have no choice but to do it myself.
