Out of desperation, I ended up telling a lie.
NOTE
The action is impulsive and not fully rational. It often leads to a negative result.
怒りまぎれに皿を割った。
In a fit of anger, I broke a plate.
The emotion noun directly precedes まぎれに to describe the impulse behind the act.

Attach まぎれに to an emotion noun such as 怒り or 苦し directly, with no particle.
