〜の〜ないの・〜の〜のなんの

Explanation
NOTE

〜の〜ないの and 〜の〜のなんの both mean extremely — they emphasize a quality with an emotional, exaggerated tone.

NOTE

The first pattern repeats one verb or adjective in positive and negative form. It is casual and emphatic.

痛いたいの痛いたくないの、もう歩あるけないよ。
It hurts so much that I can't walk anymore.
The pair 痛いの…痛くないの stresses the extreme degree of pain.
NOTE

Use the plain form of a verb or i-adjective, then の, then its negative plain form, then の again.

STRUCTURE
Adj-I辞の + [Adj-I][ない]の
暑あついの暑あつくないの、汗あせが止とまらない。
Atsui no atsukunai no, ase ga tomaranai.
It is so hot that my sweat won't stop.
あの料理りょうりは辛からいの辛からくないの、口くちが火事かじだ。
Ano ryouri wa karai no karakunai no, kuchi ga kaji da.
That dish is so spicy that my mouth is on fire.
荷物にもつが重おもいの重おもくないの、腕うでが痛いたい。
Nimotsu ga omoi no omokunai no, ude ga itai.
The luggage is so heavy that my arm hurts.
NOTE

The second pattern, 〜の〜のなんの, repeats a verb or adjective and ends with なんの for the same emphatic effect.

忙いそがしいの忙いそがしいのなんの、休やすむ暇ひまもない。
I am so busy that I have no time to rest.
Here the word is repeated in the same form, then closed with なんの.
NOTE

Take the plain form of a verb or i-adjective, add の, repeat the same word with の, then add なんの.

嬉うれしいの嬉うれしいのなんの、涙なみだが出でた。
Ureshii no ureshii no nan no, namida ga deta.
I was so happy that tears came out.
怖こわいの怖こわいのなんの、声こえも出でなかった。
Kowai no kowai no nan no, koe mo denakatta.
It was so scary that I couldn't even speak.
眠ねむいの眠ねむいのなんの、目めが開あかない。
Nemui no nemui no nan no, me ga akanai.
I am so sleepy that I can't open my eyes.
