NOTE
It is formal and often follows a noun like facts, rules, or reality that the action keeps consistent with.

I will explain based on the facts.
に即して is common with abstract nouns such as facts, reality, and regulations.
NOTE
Attach に即して directly to a noun. To modify a following noun, use the form に即した.
